CCTV film taken from both the road and the taxi show the lady getting into the vehicle.
The lady sat in the rearward sitting arrangement with no safety belt on as she guided the driver where to go.
A couple of moments into the excursion, police say the lady compromised the driver with a blade and took the vehicle off him.
She then, at that point, drove at, and hit, the 56-year-old, letting him be in the city.
The lady crashed the taxi into a wall of a close by property. The taxi was subsequently found deserted on Euroka St.
The driver was taken to Wollongong Medical clinic with back, foot, and hand wounds.
