As Rebellion has done with previous seasons in Zombie Army 4: Dead War, there’s a mixture of free and premium content available to kick off the game’s newest chapter.

The free content includes a brand-new Nightmare mode for one or two players, in which they take on the game’s campaign and face what Rebellion calls “the ultimate test.” Nightmare mode is unlocked after completing the main campaign mode and is available as part of the base game.

Also part of the free package is “a new horde mode map, new voice selection feature, and quality of life improvements.” Those QoL improvements include, according to Rebellion, rebalancing for some of the game’s maps, including Zombie Zoo and Rotten Coast.

As for the paid content, Season 3 is much like previous Zombie Army 4: Dead War seasons and includes a new campaign level called Terminal Terror. This level is the first of three campaign missions that will round out the season. It is available as a stand-alone purchase for $6.99 or as part of the Season 3 pass, which costs $34.99.

On top of Terminal Terror, other additions include:

Undercover Marie Outfit Zombie Headgear Pack MI934 Pistol Bundle Elemental Weapon Skins Zombie Charm Pack

Again, like content from previous seasons, such as that found in Season 1 and Season 2, all of this is included in the Season 3 pass or can be purchased as individual DLC packs for prices ranging from $2.99 to $3.99 each.

Rebellion also provided fans a glimpse at what they can expect out of the rest of Season 3, though they, unfortunately, didn’t get into too much of the nitty-gritty. The roadmap says that there will be a total of three campaign missions released across Season 3, as well as “5 character skin packs, 5 weapon bundles, 5 weapon skin packs, 4 headgear packs, [and] 4 charm packs.”

Zombie Army 4: Dead War recently received next-gen upgrades for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game now runs at 4K 60fps (DRS enabled quality mode) on the PS5 and XSX, and 1080p 120fps on the latter.

We enjoyed our time with Zombie Army 4: Dead War when we reviewed it last year, calling it a “solid mix of Sniper Elite-  and Left-4-Dead-style gameplay.” It is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Google Stadia.
